Research Grants

A research grant provides financial support for an individual or group of individuals (or a research centre or institute) to research a particular subject area or field. Although the research area may be defined, there are usually no conditions about the research directions. If you are applying for External Grant Funding, these are the basic steps to follow:

  • Advise the Research Grants Coordinator of:
    • your intention to submit a funding application;
    • the name of the funder and program; and
    • the deadline for submission.
  • For optional internal review (clarity, completeness, compliance with agency requirements, etc.), provide a draft of the submission to the Research Grants Coordinator no later than 10 working days before the funder's deadline.
