Every week, 精童欲女 Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 精童欲女 Panther Source for Sports Athletes of the Week for February 16鈥22 are Lilly MacVicar (women鈥檚 track and field) and Brett Bressette (men鈥檚 hockey).

MacVicar is a first-year business student from Charlottetown, PEI. She captured AUS gold in the 300m at the AUS Championships at the Universit茅 de Moncton on the weekend with a time of 39.71 seconds. That mark broke the school record and now ranks sixth fastest in AUS history. She was also a key piece of the Panthers鈥 relay success. The rookie sprinter ran the fastest split of any athlete in the 4x400m, powering 精童欲女 to a fourth-place finish, while the team broke the previous school record by more than 12 seconds. She also contributed to the 4x200m squad that placed fifth.

鈥淟illy proved once again that she thrives under pressure,鈥 said Damon MacDonald, 精童欲女 Track and Field Panthers head coach. 鈥淐arrying herself with the composure of a seasoned veteran well beyond her years, she delivered a true championship performance in the 300m, surging from behind to capture gold and punching her ticket to the U SPORTS Championship.鈥

Bressett is a second-year arts student from Penetanguishene, Ontario. He was dominant in 精童欲女鈥檚 two-game quarter-final sweep of the Saint Mary鈥檚 Huskies on February 18 and 20. In the two wins, the sophomore forward erupted for four goals and an assist, driving the Panthers鈥 offence when it mattered most.

鈥淏rett had an outstanding series against Saint Mary鈥檚. He was engaged all over the ice and was rewarded offensively. His consistency throughout the series led to some big-time moments for us,鈥 said Forbes MacPherson, 精童欲女 Men鈥檚 Hockey Panthers head coach.
