The Director of Integrated Data Analysis provides a strategic, operational, and administrative leadership role, guiding the University towards data stewardship and a culture of data-driven (evidence-based) decision making. The Director will leverage existing resources and a reinvigorated strategic plan to enhance University data governance, data analytics, and support to the institution through sustainable, resilient, and accessible data structures, tools, and plans.


As an integral part of the Vice-President Administration and Finance’s leadership team, the Director ensures that Integrated Data Analysis supports the University’s strategic goals and academic mission, in a manner consistent with the University’s values, policy, and relevant legislation/regulation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Planning
•    Lead the development, review, revision, implementation (including delegation), and monitoring of multi-year plans that enable data-driven (evidence-based) University decision-making
•    Oversee data governance strategy to ensure structured data management across the lifecycle, including quality, security, compliance, accessibility, and alignment with institutional objectives, supported by clear policies, standards, accountability, and a single source of truth
•    Direct data (analytics) strategy to guide how data is collected, stored, managed, shared, and used, aligning technology, processes, people, and governance while promoting ethical use as a strategic asset
•    Establish support strategies and other required plans to provide sustainable tools and structures for monitoring outcomes, evaluating key institutional plans, and tracking prioritized KPIs

Operational Planning
•    Develop, implement, and monitor annual and multi-year operational plans aligned with University priorities and strategic frameworks
•    Collaboratively prioritize and lead cross-functional initiatives (e.g., data modeling, analytics, reporting, visualization) to enhance insights from key data sets in a resource-constrained environment
•    Oversee the development and maintenance of data-related frameworks (policies, standards, documentation, systems, tools, automation) to improve data quality, accessibility, accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency
•    Ensure data integrity and effectively communicate priorities, approaches, and outcomes to stakeholders, promoting data-driven decision-making and governance

Team Administration
•    Lead financial, employee engagement, and development planning (including implementation and monitoring) in alignment with best practices and University policies
•    Integrate enterprise risk management and continuous improvement practices into strategic and operational decision-making related to data analysis
•    Oversee the development and maintenance of relevant policies and procedures supporting integrated data analysis functions
•    Foster accountability through regular check-ins, resource optimization, and evaluation of team performance, including project outcomes and data strategy/governance maturity 

University Outcomes
•    Conduct ongoing review of University-level performance measures to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of resource allocation against strategic and operational goals
•    Support continuous evaluation of key areas such as enrolment management, and administrative and academic programs and services

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science or Analytics (or other related)
•    Master’s degree (in a related field)

 

EXPERIENCE:

•    Progressively complex leadership experience in integrated data analysis
•    More than five years of progressively complex managerial experience
•    Proficiency in SQL, Power BI, and statistical software (SAS and SPSS)
•    Ability to work with the Microsoft Office suite of products 
•    Proficiency in enterprise resource planning systems (and particularly Ellucian/Colleague) would be a significant asset
