If you do not have a Canadian bank account, you will need to open one for your payroll. for information on opening a bank account for non-residents or changing financial institutions if you鈥檙e moving to Charlottetown.
Health Care
Apply for a PEI Health Card If you (and members of your family) have recently moved to Prince Edward Island to live, work, or study, you may to receive publicly funded health services. Moving from another Canadian province: Your previous province of residence will provide your health coverage for the first three months. PEI Health coverage will begin on the first day of the third month following the date you permanently reside in PEI.
The University provides supplemental coverage through the Medavie Blue Cross Supplemental Health and Dental Plan. Coverage varies based on staff group and appointment type.
In PEI, there is a waiting list to find a new family doctor or nurse practitioner. This waiting list is called the Patient Registry.
